The owner of an "XL bully" that savaged another dog and bit a woman fled the scene before police arrived.
Cheshire Constabulary received reports of a dog attack at Peel Hall Park, Warrington, at around 10.30am on Wednesday, December 13. Officers attended the park and found the dog, reported to be an XL bully, had attacked another dog and bitten a 53-year-old woman.
A police spokesperson said the woman only sustained minor injuries and she was passed into the care of paramedics. The injured dog was taken to a vet for treatment where it remains at this time.

The suspected XL bully was located and seized by officers and has since been taken to a secure location. At this time, the breed of the dog has yet to be officially confirmed.
The dog's owner was reported to have fled the scene following the incident. A 24-year-old local man has since been arrested on suspicion of being the owner/person in charge of a dangerous dog. He has since been released on bail.
