Woman punched to floor in huge brawl outside bar as men jailed

A woman was punched to the floor after a huge brawl erupted outside a bar.

Merseyside Police was called to a bar on Conway Street in Birkenhead at around 4am on November 6, 2022, following reports of a group of men gathering outside. Two of the men started fighting, which then escalated into a large scale brawl between several men, some using weapons, and also a woman.

A woman was punched and knocked unconscious before the fight continued onto Argyle Street. Initially five people were arrested and charged in connection with the brawl.

Two men, Ellis Bradley Price, 26, of Pennine Road, Prenton, sand Jordan Nathanial Hawkins, 27, of Autumn Grove, Rock Ferry pleaded guilty to affray and were sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday, December 18.

Price was jailed for 18 months while Hawkins received a nine month sentence. A further two people also pleaded guilty to affray and received suspended sentences for their involvement.

Detective Constable Joseph Dutton who led the investigation said: “This was a violent incident where a woman was punched and knocked unconscious – thankfully she wasn’t seriously hurt. Following a long investigation two people – Price and Hawkins – were put before the courts and are now paying the price for their involvement in such violence.

“I hope this sends a clear message that this behaviour will not be tolerated on Merseyside.”
