At the height of the incident, two teams of firefighters helped to extinguish the blaze using hose reel jets. One person was taken to hospital by ambulance, while a full search of the three storey semi detached house was carried out.

Fire crews remained at the scene until 3.41am on Saturday, and the incident was handed over to Merseyside Police. Photos show the scale of damage caused by the blaze, with several windows smashed on the house and others boarded up.
