The introduction of WhatsApp's "delete message" function was a real game changer for those mortifying moments you say something you shouldn't.
The function is arguably one of the most popular on the app, letting you delete a message you sent to the wrong person and just slip-ups in general. But did you know there's a way deleted messages can be recovered?
If you thought your faux pas had been wiped permanently, you're not in luck. There is a surprisingly easy way to get hold of them on both Apple and Android phones.

The deleted message is stored on your phone, and can be uncovered using WhatsApp's backup feature. The tool backs up all of your messages, with users choosing when their messages are backed up, choosing from daily, weekly and monthly or choosing not to back them up.
So to read a deleted message, you need to uninstall WhatsApp and then install it again. When you have logged back in, the app will give you an option to restore chats from backup.
These chats will include your deleted messages.
