People said they were "covered in bites" as a whole village came together to search for a lost guinea pig.
People in Storeton, Wirral, have been trying to find a missing guinea pig since September 7 after a woman spotted the animal while walking in the nearby woods. An initial post in the Missing Wirral Pets Facebook group pictured the black and ginger animal and said it was "too fast" to catch.
The post read: "If anyone is missing a guinea pig, there is one in the bushes on the way to Storeton Woods. I couldn't catch it, it was too fast for me."

Dozens of people commented on the post to share tips and tricks on how to catch the guinea pig, while others said they would head to the woods to search for it themselves. People continued to post sightings of the animal over the coming days, which led to multiple people and organisations trying to find it.
One animal rescue charity commented: "Can’t believe this little guy is still going. Amazing. We do need to try and catch him. We have places for him to go to afterwards too."
But despite people using treats, cucumber and guinea pig noises to try and tempt the animal into being caught, it evaded capture for over a month. On October 9 a woman posted on the Missing Wirral Pets Facebook group to let members know the guinea pig had been caught.
The woman who found it said she used a "dark box full of hay, tunnel and guinea pig noise" to catch the animal. Hundreds of people took to the comments section to express their happiness that the guinea pig was caught.
One woman said: "Amazing news!! Hope whoever caught him/her was wearing bug repellent – I'm covered in bites after my vigil yesterday so glad he's been caught and can be warm and safe over winter now."
Another commenter said: "Was worried about this little guy all cold up there. So glad he has been rescued and will be nice and warm now."
A third person said: "Great news, been following this story, have a happy life little one."
