People travelling to the USA this summer have been warned their journeys could take longer than planned.
Millions of people visit the US from the UK each year, and with travel companies sharing record numbers of bookings post pandemic, this number could climb even further in 2023. When people book a trip across the Atlantic, they're usually well aware that it will take a while to arrive at their destination.
However, people should now factor extra time into their plans, due to processing times passengers arriving in the US are currently facing.

A study by Bounce analysed the combined average wait times at airports across the US. People arriving at New York's JFK airport can expect to wait the longest, more than 48 minutes on average.
Not far behind is San Francisco International Airport, with an average wait time for both passport clearance and security of 47 minutes and 18 seconds. Miami comes in third place with an average wait time of almost 46 minutes.
Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International, Orlando, Seattle-Tacoma, St Louis, Honolulu, San Diego and Chicago O'Hare airports also made the top 10 list, each with average waits of over 36 minutes.
At the other end of the scale, Baltimore/Washington International Airport has the shortest combined wait times at arrivals, just 14 minutes and 48 seconds on average.
This was joined by San Antonio, San Jose, Newark Liberty International, Cincinatti, Sacramento, Raleigh–Durham, Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International , Phoenix Sky Harbor and Denver International airports – which all had average wait times of under 21 minutes.
