A TUI flight suddenly diverted and returned back to Manchester Airport because its crew had worked too many hours.

The BY166 flight from Manchester to Goa, India, departed the airport at 12.55am today, Saturday, January 20. The plane landed back in Manchester shortly after 2.10am. Flight tracking data showed the plane setting off and heading west towards the Irish Sea before circling back and returning to Manchester.

A spokesperson for TUI told the Manchester Evening News that the reason for the flight being diverted was that its crew had "exceeded operational hours." The flight eventually departed shortly before 6pm this evening.
