Tributes pour in for Creamfields security guard with ‘beautiful smile’

Tributes have been paid to a Creamfields security guard who died after being injured at the festival.

The security guard, named as Michael but also known by the nickname Bruno, was airlifted to hospital from the festival in Daresbury, Halton, on Monday, August 28, after being injured while clearing up the site. Police said at the time the security guard was in a serious condition in hospital and officers were investigating the circumstances of the accident.

Michael's family have now confirmed he sadly died at 5am on September 15 after spending 18 days in hospital fighting for his life.

In a statement posted to a Creamfields community group, a family member said: "As a family we regret to inform you that Michael AKA Bruno (security guard) passed away at 5am this morning (15/09/23) following a tragic set of unfortunate circumstances.

"We would like to thank everyone who has called, text, and supported us over the last two weeks, it is appreciated. As you can imagine, this is a really difficult time for us all, so we would appreciate some privacy at this time."

A Gofundme page set up by the family has raised more than £1,600 so far. A message on the page reads: "Unfortunately on the 28th August my brother sustained a serious head injury whilst working at Creamfields.

"He was airlifted to hospital where he received round the clock treatment for 18 days. Unfortunately at 5am on the 15th September he passed away."

Dozens of people have paid tribute to Michael after reading his story. On Facebook, Terina Richardson said: "Heartbreaking. Deepest sympathy to the family. Thinking of you all."

Ali James said: "A beautiful smile. So sad that this happened. RIP Michael."

Jackie Westhead said: "RIP. Deepest condolences to your family and friends."

Owen Taylor said: "Just awful news. So sorry for his family. This is why I'll always live life like it's my last day because you just don't know what'll happen."

Margaret Little said: "That is so sad. God bless him and his family."

Sheila Teasdale said: "Heartbreaking. Condolences to his family and friends."
