Teen in court on suspicion of jabbing boy in eye with crossbow

A teenager is due in court on suspicion of jabbing a boy in the eye with a crossbow.

Lancashire Police received a call following an incident on a footbridge close to Glenburn Road and Windrows, Skelmersdale on January 10. It was reported to officers a teenage boy was jabbed in the eye and seriously injured by a crossbow.

A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons and was arrested and charged with Section 18 wounding with intend to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

The boy was set to appear at Preston Magistrates' Court today (January 25).

In a statement, Skelmersdale Police said: "We have charged a teenager after an incident in Skelmersdale involving a crossbow. On January 10, the victim, a teenage boy, was allegedly jabbed in the eye with the crossbow, causing a serious injury, on a footbridge close to Glenburn Road and Windrows.

"A 17-year-old boy from Skelmersdale was arrested by our officers and has now been charged with section 18 wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. He has been remanded to appear before Preston Magistrates Court today (January 25)."
