There are a number of dogs in Merseyside looking for their forever homes.
Like many rescue centres across the UK, Freshfields Animal Rescue in Sefton is seeing unprecedented numbers of animals without homes. From pets being handed in, to strays found walking the streets, rescue centres are "bursting" as they urge people to think before they buy.
With new rules around XL bully dogs in place, rescues fear even more demand over unwanted dogs. Debbie Hughes, at Freshfields Animal Rescue in Sefton, previously told the ECHO that she fears things will get worse before they get better as she pleaded with families to look at other options before simply getting rid of a pet they already have.
