A 10-year-old girl wrote a heartbreaking "letter to Father Christmas" that "no child should have to write".
The letter was shared by the charity Come Together Christmas as part of its Christmas appeal. In a post on Instagram, the charity, based at Alkafuel Water's shop on Derby Lane in Old Swan, issued a plea for people to help families living in poverty across the city.
The letter reads: "To Santa, mum told me you are sick this year and you can't come to our house. I hope you get better soon. I think it would make my brother happy! Love Lilly xx (Age 10). PS. We have been really good."

The charity said "no child should ever have to write a letter like this" as it thanked everyone who has donated to its Christmas appeal to far. The caption of the post said: "It’s estimated around 1 in 7 children will wake up to nothing on Christmas morning this year and around 24,000 children in Liverpool are living in poverty and deprived conditions.
"But with the increasing costs of living and energy prices it’s not just a case of no toys or gifts there’s 1000s of families struggling for gas, electricity and food.
"We have 4 MORE DAYS until the cut off for this year's @cometogetherchristmas2023 appeal. If you are in a position to help in any way we can’t express how much even the smallest donation could mean to a child or family at Christmas.
"All of our donations go directly to community centres spread across the whole of the city meaning we can ensure they reach the families and children who really need it most. There really is no other city like Liverpool and the support so far has been incredible. Huge thank to everyone who’s supported us so far."
