Red Rum Club issue statement on Salt and Tar gig after thunderstorms

Red Rum Club have issued a statement regarding their Salt and Tar gig following thunderstorms.

The six-piece band, from Crosby, are set to perform at the new Bootle venue tonight, Saturday, July 8. However, the indie pop band issued a statement after Merseyside was battered with heavy rain, thunder and lightning.

Posting on Twitter, a spokesperson for the band said due to the "adverse weather" opening of the doors for the gig has been delayed.

They said: "Unfortunately due to the adverse weather conditions doors will now be 5.45pm. We're incredibly sorry to the bands and fans affected by this, the show will still be taking place this evening."

Sefton Council also said: "Doors have been delayed until 5.45pm @salttarbootle."

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in Merseyside which was in place from 9am today. Thunderstorms hit the region at around 4pm, with lightning strikes and flooding in places.

Forecasters said: "Heavy showers and thunderstorms continuing for a time, then clearing later in the evening leaving some clear spells overnight. Winds easing and remaining dry. Feeling less muggy than last night. Minimum temperature 13 °C."
