ECHO readers have voted for the area they think is the best place to live in Liverpool.

We put it to our readers to chose which area of Merseyside they think is the best place to live in Liverpool. Hundreds of votes came in and we can now announce the winner of the close race.

It was tight with the vote split well among all the distinct areas but there was one winner that took the cake. But as of writing Aigburth has recieved the highest number of votes out of the bunch, with almost 10% of the vote.

The South Liverpool suburb sits near Sefton Park and St Michaels, presenting some wonderful opportunities for a nice day out without going too far from home. It's got some great transport links too, and some amazing grade II listed buildings like St Anne's Church on Aigburth Road.

Further down on Aigburth Road, Lark Lane is one particular highlight of the area, with dozens of small businesses and wonderful places to eat and get a drink. The street is known for its bohemian vibe, attracting people from all over the city and further afield.

The area also boasts plenty of schools and nurseries, making it a great place to raise kids if you have them.

Woolton, to the East of Aigburth, also deserves an honourable mention for reaching second place in our poll with just one vote less than the winner. Similar to Aigburth, the area is more on the affluent side, and is popular with footballers, boasting numerous landmarks such as John Lennon's childhood home.

Do you agree with the results of the poll? If not, tell us why in the comments section.
