A postman sprung into action and delivered his "best package yet" after being stuck in traffic on his way home.

Scott Rogers, 41, turned midwife when he walked through the door of his house and heard wife Joanna shout "I need to push". Scott had just dropped his son Kai, eight, at a family member's house on Monday August 7.

But when he arrived back home he was forced to spring into action after realising daughter Taymar was well on her way. Scott said: "I walked into the living room and Joanne was ready to push. I was like 'whoa whoa we can go to the hospital'.

Scott said medical staff on the phone talking him through everything, but added: "It was nerve-wracking. I've never experienced anything like it in my life."

Baby Taymar entered the world weighing 7lbs 10oz and Scott said she is by far the "best package he has ever delivered". The now one-month-old is happy and healthy and "everyone loves her".

Joanne, a nursery nurse, said the midwife talked through what Scott needed to do on the loudspeaker and said he had done a 'fantastic job'. She said "How many people can say they delivered their own child? He's certainly taken being a postie to the next level."
