A much-loved festive family event was cancelled for tonight due to adverse weather conditions.
Enchanted, Knowsley Safari Park's Christmas extravaganza event is closed tonight, as strong gusts sweep across the country. Enchanted sees Knowsley Safari Park undergo a dazzling transformation into an illuminated wonderland from November 18 to December 30, with talking trees, animals and its very own Winter Village.
The attraction took to Facebook to break the news of tonight's cancellation and said: "Unfortunately, due to high winds forecast tonight (Sat 9th Dec), we’ve had to cancel Enchanted.

"If you have tickets to visit this evening, please check your inbox for an email with all the information you need."
A number of people commented on the post with complaints about the decision, with some questioning whether the indoor element could have gone ahead. Katie Dancer said: "Absolutely disgraceful, Santa is indoors. Can you allow people to see Santa? How do you explain to children you cannot see Santa?"
Stasha Stasha said: "Absolutely shocking! Currently on the phone and no one will answer! How do we also explain to our 4 year old that he, also like other children, won’t get to see Father Christmas?"
Not everyone disagreed with the decision. Sarah Townley said: "Thank you Knowsley Safari for putting safety of all customers and staff (first)! This decision wasn't easy!"
Some people were claiming they could not get through to the safari park to query refund information. Sam Davies said: "Totally agree the decision is fair enough, but telling people to email and then not getting back to people quickly isn't really acceptable at this time of year as we're all left in limbo."
The cancellation comes in the midst of a yellow weather warning for wind, issued by the Met Office and affecting a large portion of the country.
Knowsley Safari Park said: “Unfortunately, due to high winds forecasted today we’ve had to take the hard decision to cancel Enchanted to protect the safety of visitors and staff.
"Guests who have a ticket for this evening have received an email this afternoon with instructions of how they can reschedule or request a refund.”
