An evidence tent has been erected in a park following reports of a concern for safety earlier today.
Three police vehicles, two police dog unit vehicles and a scientific support unit attended Killen Green Park, Netherton, today, Wednesday, January 24 following reports of a concern for safety in the area. A small wooded area inside the park was cordoned off, and various entrances to the area on Fleetwood's Lane, Hilton Court, Granams Court, and Church Way were also closed.
Dog walkers were turned away from the scene as police dog handlers and sniffer dogs were seen searching the cordoned off woods. A remote-controlled drone could also be seen hovering over the area, which is located next to the Killen Green Skatepark. The ECHO received reports of an evidence tent being erected inside the park earlier this evening.

An image sent to the ECHO shows a blue tent within the cordon next to a path inside the park. An eyewitness claimed he also saw police officers digging in the park. Police were expected to remain in the park all day, with one officer at the scene saying they were in "the early stages of an investigation".
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We can confirm that officers are currently in Killen Green Park, in Netherton, to carry out enquiries in connection to a concern for safety. A cordon will remain in place while enquiries continue today, Wednesday 24 January."
The ECHO has approached Merseyside Police for an update.
