Patients were evacuated after a fire broke out in the ward of a hospital.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to Arrowe Park Hospital in Woodchurch on Sunday, January 29 at around 10.35pm. Three fire engines were sent to the scene and found a small fire in a ward which had already been put out by hospital staff.
The ward was evacuated and was ventilated with an electric fan by firefighters before they left the scene at 11.56pm. A spokesperson for Wirral University Teaching Hospital said the fire is believed to have been accidental.

In a statement they said: “A fire broke out in a side room of a ward at around 10.30pm on 28th January. There was a rapid response and all fire safety protocols were followed. The fire, which is believed to have been accidental, was contained to the side room and was quickly extinguished.”
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Recue said an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
They said: "Fire crews were called to Arrowe Park Hospital in Woodchurch yesterday after reports of a fire in a ward. Crews were alerted at 10.30pm and on scene at 10.36pm, with three fire engines in attendance.
"Firefighters arrived to find a small fire in a ward which was already out and had been extinguished by on site staff. The ward had been evacuated and was ventilated with an electric fan by firefighters before they left the scene at 11.56pm.
"An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing."
