Parents take two children on holiday ‘in the boot of their car’

A driver was stopped by police after travelling with two children in the boot.

North West Motorway Police received reports that a five seater car was travelling on the motorway with seven passengers. Officers caught up with the VW Arteon and pulled it over on junction 20 of the M6.

They found that there were two children in the boot of the car. The driver alleged that the family had been going on holiday, according to police. A spokesperson said the driver had been reported for three offences , including carrying two passengers without seatbelts.

They said: "VW Arteon stopped following report of seven people on board , two children in the boot. Vehicle sighted on the M6, taken off Junction 20.

"Driver reported for three offences, carrying two passengers with no seatbelts and using a vehicle for an unsuitable purpose. Family going on holiday."
