Our Liverpool: pinch, punch.. it’s the first day of March already

Hello and welcome to the first Our Liverpool of March.

Can you believe we're on the cusp of Spring already? It's a massive relief as sadly cosy Winter nights don't have the allure they used to thanks to the cost of living crisis driving up heating bills.

Spring is one of the best times to be in Liverpool, and to celebrate that for our March edition of Mersey Snaps we're asking readers to send in their best (or favourite) pictures of Merseyside in Spring. The winner will be showcased in the paper, and will also be used as a banner on our Facebook and Twitter pages.

Last month's Mersey Snaps went very well and we look forward to seeing what you've got to show us once more.

City centre to be further transformed

A site that once ground rice for Kellogg's Rice Krispies is one of two major multi-million pound projects that could transform one corner of the city centre. Heap's Rice Mill, on Beckwith Street, is set for a big redevelopment into luxury apartments with a basement spa.

The other project is a £37.5m four-star hotel development that is due to be built on the plot adjacent to the former rice mill. Both projects will transform the street which leads into the Baltic Triangle.

Strangers form human chain to rescue woman

A cyclist watched as a woman disappeared "in the blink of an eye" and banded together with a team of strangers to rescue the woman from the watery ditch where she fell. The woman was taken to hospital, and the cyclist said it was a miracle she got the urgent help she so desperately needed.

Mersey pub one of the best in the country

I've rarely craved a pint and a pub meal at 7am but after reading about Hightown's Pheasant Pub, named as one of the top 50 in the UK, I'm now fully craving one. But I think I'll stick to coffee for the time being.
