Birkenhead made headlines this morning as Birkenhead Park was named in a shortlist of seven sites that could join the World Heritage Status list. The once world-leading park is one of a number that inspired the creator of New York's Central Park and the push for it to join the prestigious list dates as far back as 2013 or further.
Many think the park deserves it, myself included, not only for the fact it would restore to Merseyside what was taken from Liverpool only years ago, but because of the park's heritage its beauty.

Body found in water at docks
Elsewhere, police confirmed a body was found in the water at Salthouse Dock. A considerable police presence was spotted on the dock yesterday, and Mersey Fire and Rescue Service were on scene.
Lap-dancing clubs seek licenses to operate in city centre
Liverpool City Council is due to make a decision on two applications for sexual entertainment licenses for lap-dancing clubs in the city centre. No objections by the public have been made according to the report, and Merseyside Police have not made any objection either.
The decisions will be made on Tuesday, April 18.
Exact time powerful winds will batter Merseyside
The Met Office has issued two days of weather warnings for Liverpool as strong winds are set to batter the area this week. Gusts of up to 50mph could disrupt travel and journeys on public transport could be affected.
