Tributes have poured in for a mum also known as "Fairy Nuff" after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Beverly Lee was well known in New Brighton as the mum-of-three would dress up as a fairy and go to children's hospitals and care homes to entertain those in need. Beverly, from Wallasey, was previously diagnosed with bile duct cancer in 2021.

But on April 17 this year, the 54-year-old was given a terminal diagnosis after suffering from "tiredness" and "jaundice" and Beverly sadly died on Monday, July 3. Her daughter Ashleigh Connelly said even when her mum was having chemo, she always made sure "to put smiles on people's faces".

She said: "But she always carried on with her fairy alter ego and even when she was having chemo nothing stopped her doing it. She loved to put smiles on people's faces, especially children."

Since the news of Beverly's death, dozens of ECHO readers have paid tribute to the 54-year-old. Writing on the ECHO's Facebook page Zoe Carmichael said: "Rest your wings now Fairy Nuff. The pirates and the fairy glen at Vale Park bring so much joy to so many. Thank you for your magic. Thoughts with your family and friends."

Julie Brandham added: "Tragic and heartbreaking. Beautiful lady with a heart of gold . Sending love and strength and prayers to family and friends."

Aimee Hamlett also said: "Rest in paradise Beverley Lee will miss you and your big heart and dirty laugh, back with your mum now. Shine bright Fairy Nuff."

Joan Fogg added: "How sad such a lovely fairy, my grandson loved her, I have a beautiful picture of the two of them in Vale Park. RIP LOVELY."

Beverly came up with the idea for her fairy alter ego after finding Ashleigh's old prom dress in the loft five years ago. The loss has devastated Ashleigh, 30, who said she thought she would have "more time" with her.

Ashleigh said: "She even got to ring the end of treatment bell in 2022 but the cancer came back… We knew what was going to happen but we wanted more time. She just had such a generous spirit and was incredibly kind… I think she had an endless supply of love to share."

Beverly was an active member of the 'Black Pearl Pirates' a group of artists who helped to create the fairy installations at Vale Park and the pirate ship on New Brighton beach. Since her death there has been an outpouring of support for Ashleigh and her family.

In a Facebook post the Black Pearl Pirates said: "A rainbow appeared over the vale last night, the alicorn saw our Fairy Nuff was getting tired so he reached out, sprinkled her with fairy dust, and off they flew over the rainbow to find her angel wings."
