A mum was "shocked" when police turned up at the door with her son after a terrifying incident.
Kay Wallace, 31, said her 11-year-old son had only left the house 20 minutes earlier when police knocked on her front door on February 22, 2023. While walking to meet one of his friends, her son was grabbed in the middle of the street by a man.
The boy managed to fight off the man, who ran away with the boy’s mobile phone along Norreys Avenue towards Lilford Avenue in Warrington. The boy only sustained a minor injury and was taken home.

Kay told The ECHO: "I was completely gobsmacked, I don't even know how I felt, I felt numb. He was brought to the door by police, it must have been only 20 minutes after he left to meet his friends.
"He was just telling me what happened, but I think he was that shocked. He's not been the same as he was since then.
"He has isolated himself and doesn't want to do anything anymore. He's not sleeping through the night and hasn't improved since the incident, if anything he has got worse."
Following the incident a man, 27, was arrested after he presented himself at a local police station. He was released on conditional bail.
Previously, Detective Sergeant Richard Langford said: “We understand that incidents such as this cause a lot of concern in the local community. I would like to reassure residents that we are doing all we can to establish exactly what has taken place and who was responsible."
After the family made enquiries with people in the area to find out if they saw what happened, Natalya Ryder and Eddie Lewis, who own Tech Assist NW Community Interest Company (CIC), offered the schoolboy a new phone.
The company provides a number of services including data recovery and new phones to people who have been victims of domestic abuse along with other cases.
Kay said when the company offered to give her son a new phone she was "overwhelmed".
She said: "It brought a face back to humanity, especially with everything that's going on at the moment. Not many people do things like this and it shows that not all people are bad."
