Mum charged with killing her four year old son

A woman has been charged with the murder of her four-year-old son in east London.

Police have confirmed that that Keziah Macharia, 41, will appear in custody at Thames Magistrates' Court on Friday, charged with the murder of Kobi Dooley-Macharia, her son. Emergency services were called to an address in Montague Road, Hackney, on Wednesday, December 20, following concerns about the welfare of a child.

Inside, officers found Kobi Dooley-Macharia, who had suffered knife injuries, and arrested his mum. The child was taken to hospital but died from his injuries later.

Mayor of Hackney, Caroline Woodley, said: “I was utterly devastated to hear this morning of the tragic death of a four year-old child in Hackney. My thoughts and deepest condolences, along with everyone at the council, are with the child’s family.

“We are working with the police and the child’s school to support the child’s family, friends and the wider community.”
