Next week is set to feel more 'autumnal' according to the Met Office as heavy rain and thunder is set to sweep across Merseyside.

With the days getting shorter and the evenings getting chillier, many of us are already feeling autumnal after the heatwave in September. Next week is set to feel even more so with reports of heavy showers and 'cooler temperatures'.

The Met Office has warned that next week will consist of 'rain or showers' with 'strong winds at times'. Some thunder is set to hit the region tonight (Sunday, September 17) with further scattered heavy showers and a minimum temperature of 11 °C.

As the new week begins, Monday will see heavy rain moving east during the morning and some thunder. It's set to be drier by the afternoon with 'sunny intervals' at times, but also with occasional showers and a maximum temperature of 17 °C.

From Tuesday to Thursday onwards Met Office has described the forecast as 'unsettled' with 'changeable conditions'. Be sure to keep your brolly handy as there will be periods of heavy rain and showery spells.

Throughout the week there will also be a chance of coastal gales, with the weather set to feel 'cooler' than usual. Monday and Tuesday are set to be the worst days for rain with scattered showers until Saturday, September 23 which currently looks dry with a high of 16°C and a low of 13°C.
