The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of Merseyside.
The forcecasting agency has warned the North West of England will be battered by severe wind tomorrow evening. The yellow alert stars at 6pm on Wednesday, December 27 as forecasters expect gusts to reach up to 70mph.
The warning remains in force until 3am on Thursday, December 28 as the forecasters also predict heavy rain in the region. It said: "Through Wednesday evening, a spell of very severe gales is expected to sweep east and northeast across the Celtic and Irish Sea to produce gusts of 50 to 60 mph in parts of west Wales and northwest England.

"There is the potential for gusts reaching 65 or 70 mph around exposed coasts and over high ground. Heavy, squally showers will accompany these strong winds. The winds will ease later in the night."
The wind warning comes in addition to a rain warning issued across areas of the UK. Forecasters urged people to be vigilant in the windy conditions.
It added: "Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary. People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance.
"It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items. If you are on the coast, stay safe during stormy weather by being aware of large waves. Even from the shore large breaking waves can sweep you off your feet and out to sea.
"Take care if walking near cliffs; know your route and keep dogs on a lead. In an emergency, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. Be prepared for weather warnings to change quickly: when a weather warning is issued, the Met Office recommends staying up to date with the weather forecast in your area."
The full forecast for Wednesday and Thursday in Merseyside said: "Wet and windy across all parts to begin with. Some drier spells for some in the afternoon but remaining windy throughout, possible gales along coasts. Turning milder again. Maximum temperature 12C.
"Some brighter spells returning on Thursday and Friday, though often showery with strong winds. Rather windy and turning cooler. Turning a little more settled for Saturday."
