Weather forecasters are predicting snow in Liverpool on two days this month.

Amid reports of the UK being hit with further wintry conditions, the Met Office gave its verdict earlier this week. The weather service was forced to rebuff some weather maps which suggested a “stratospheric polar vortex” was about to plunge the country into temperatures well below freezing in a weather event reminiscent of 2018’s "Beast from the East".

The Met Office said there is “there is no suggestion of anything similar to the significant cold spell in 2018”.

The weather service has predicted changeable and unsettled weather for Liverpool for most of this week. Its long-range UK forecast does say there is a "small chance chance of very cold conditions and snow showers moving in from the east", but adds "most likely is a resumption of wetter, windier and milder weather from the west after a few days of cold conditions".

The second half of the month, it said, is "likely to be characterised by changeable weather, with unsettled and windy conditions, especially in the north west".

Accuweather's long-range daily forecast, however, predicts some snow for Liverpool. On Thursday, February 16, it predicts highs of 7C, that actually feel more like 1C, adding there is likely to be: "A rain or snow shower in spots in the morning; otherwise, intervals of clouds and sunshine".

And on Saturday February 25, it predicts there could be a "snow shower early on". Highs of 10C that feel more like 5C, and lows of 2C that feel more like -5C are forecast for this day.
