Merseyside is set to be hit by high winds as a yellow weather warning was issued for parts of the UK by the Met Office.

The forecaster has issued the warning for high winds for the North West of England between 9am and 5pm on Wednesday, January 31. The warning covers parts of Yorkshire, Lancashire and the North East of England as well as the whole of Scotland.

Despite Liverpool and Merseyside not being covered by the warning, the city will see wind gusts of up to 41mph on Wednesday afternoon. The worst of the windy weather will be between midday and 7pm, with heavy rain also being expected between 6pm and 8pm.
