McDonald's is bringing a childhood back to every one of its UK restaurants this month – but you'll have to be quick as they won't be around for long.

The place with the golden arches is popular with diners across the country and while some signature staples remain year-round, other things are subject to change. Menu items come and go, as do Happy Meal toy ranges.

McDonald's has this week announced a new change to its children's meals.

Sonic, Tails and Friends have "taken over" the Happy Meal box, with children able to collect 12 different toys, including hoverboards, mosaic posters, and puzzle racer toys. Happy Meals will also give little diners access to "exclusive Sonic missions" via QR codes on the boxes.

McDonald's has launched a new range of Sonic toys in its Happy Meals

Sonic the Hedgehog was hugely popular in the early 1990s, having initially been introduced in a Sega video game. This then led to a number of animated TV series and, more recently, a string of feature-length films.

The Sonic, Tails and Friends toys will be available in Happy Meals for just a few weeks, until Tuesday, February 6. Customers can also opt for a book instead of a toy, with a choice of "I Can Be an Inspirational Writer" and "I Can Be a Sports Legend".
