A man was slashed after two burglars forced their way into his home.
Police and forensics surrounded a row of shops on Bebington Road in New Ferry on Saturday, December 16, after the slashing. Officers were called at 4.20am on Saturday to reports two men, dressed in dark clothing, had forced their way into the property and assaulted a man in his 50s.
He was treated in hospital for a laceration to his hand. The offenders ran off on foot having taken a laptop and mobile phone. A section of the car park on Woodhead Street was cordoned off by police throughout the day on Saturday.
Merseyside Police said house to house enquiries have been carried out and CCTV opportunities in the area are being explored.

Detective Inspector Sarah Wilkinson said: “Nobody has the right to force entry into someone’s property, and it is dreadful to think that this victim was then assaulted by those people when he disturbed them.
“Burglary is an invasive crime in which the sanctity and safety of the home is violated. Everyone has the right to feel safe in their home, without the fear of being targeted in this way, and we will do everything we can to identify who was responsible and bring them to justice.
“If you saw anything suspicious in the area of Bebington Road in the early hours of Saturday, please get in touch so that we can bring those responsible to justice.”
