A man who raped a woman in her own home after meeting her on a dating site has been jailed.
Dale Byrne, 27, arranged to meet the victim after meeting her through the site. He went to her home in Ellesmere Port on October 1, 2021 and raped her.
He sexually assaulted and raped the victim, despite the fact she had told him from the start she did not want to have sex and she told him repeatedly to stop. He was arrested and subsequently charged with rape and sexual assault.

Byrne, of Alexander Road, Seaforth, had previously pleaded not guilty to rape but was found guilty by a jury during a trial in July. He appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday, August 11, and was sentenced to seven years in prison.
Cheshire Police's DC Josie Fergus said: “Byrne believed that he was above the law and thought that he could do whatever he wanted. Byrne has shown no remorse throughout the investigation or the trial."
She added: “Thankfully, due to the victim’s bravery and courage in coming forward and talking about what happened, Byrne is now facing the consequences behind bars.
“I hope that this sentence will provide some comfort to the victim and allow her to move forward with her life.”
Byrne has also been ordered to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely along with a restraining order to prevent him ever contacting the victim again.
