Police Constable Orren Williams said: "We have been following a number of enquiries to establish what took place following the collision and are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward. This stretch of carriageway would have been extremely busy at this time and I know that there would have been a lot of people making their commutes to work.

"As such I would ask anyone who may have seen the vehicles involved before the collision or perhaps witnessed the collision to get in touch. The same goes to anyone who may have information or may have dashcam footage that they believe could assist us in piecing together what happened.

"Anyone with information is asked to provide it to Cheshire Police via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/police-forces/cheshire-constabulary/areas/cheshire/about-us/about-us/provide-more-information-about-an-appeal/ quoting IML 1467537 or call 101."
