A street filled with thick smoke after a fire broke out tonight.
Six fire engines and an aerial appliance were called to Lockerby Road in Fairfield at 3.28pm on Thursday, February 9 following reports of a blaze in a commercial unit. Sam Ali was sat in his car on the same road with his friend just minutes before the blaze began.
He told The ECHO the street started filling with smoke to the point where he "couldn't see a thing" through his windscreen.

He said: "I had literally just come out into my car and was in there vaping with my friend when the smoke started. The smoke was coming from the building and it came into the road, I couldn't see a thing through my window.
"I got out the car and was on the phone to my friend, he said he couldn't see my car anymore [because of the smoke]."
It wasn't long before Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service and Merseyside Police arrived at the scene and put a cordon in place between Holly Road and Prescot Road. When emergency services arrived they found the ground floor of the building well alight.
Four firefighters were flighting the blaze from the inside of the two-storey building while two workers on an aerial appliance fought the flames from above. People in the area said there was a blaze at the same property only a few months ago.
The North West Ambulance Service did not appear to be at the scene, with no injuries reported to MFRS. Firefighters made good progress and extinguished the fire by 7.30pm. Crews remained at the scene for some time to dampen down the area and used fans to clear the area of smoke.
Scottish Power Networks were also called to the scene by MFRS. The road has since reopened to cars.
