Darts sensation Luke Littler has reached the World Darts Championship final after winning his semi-final match.

Littler won his match 6-2 against Rob Cross, who is more than double his age at 33 years old, at Alexandra Palace on Tuesday, January 2. Littler was one down after the first set and turned it around to win three consecutive sets to take a 3-1 lead – breaking Rob Cross in the third set of the semi-final.

"The Nuke" continued his winning streak against Cross, who won the world championship in 2018, finally beating him 6-2. Littler is a product of the St Helens darts academy and is already the youngest ever player to reach this stage of the competition.

He told BBC Breakfast hard work from a young age has been key to his success.

He said: "From the age of 18 months I've just been non stop and then by the age of four I got onto the proper board. When we moved to Warrington when I was 8/9, we started going out to pubs 4/5 times a week and I was just non-stop."

Littler cruised into the semi final after he defeated the No 28 seed, Brendan Dolan, 5-1 to continue his fairy tale story. Luke's final opponent will either be Scott Williams or Luke Humphries, depending on who wins the semi-final's second match.

The final of the Paddy Power World Darts Championship is set to take place on Wednesday, January 3.
