A Liverpool Empire show was halted during its interval after a power cut in the building.
Those watching The Bodyguard at the Empire Theatre this evening had their performance cut short after the power went out in the building and across parts of London Road. The outage occurred at around 8.30pm, just as the show was entering its interval, and did not come back on.
Theatregoers say they were then told at around 9.20pm the show was cancelled due to the outage, and the audience – those who had not left already – left the building.

It was Karl Bradley's second attempt to see the show after the show he booked to see in April was disrupted by audience members. He said the outage didn't "ruin" the parts of the show he got to see, but did call it "disappointing".
Karl, 21, said: "It was during the interval the house lights came on then flickered for a few minutes. Then they turned off for 40 minutes. Even the toilets were in complete darkness. Only the emergency lights were on.
"It didn't ruin it, but it was disappointing. They said they would be in touch with us about ticket compensation. It was the whole block of buildings. Members of staff knew there was wider disruption.
"People had already started leaving, saying it's not likely to come back on. There was a bit of a gasp and then everyone left."
Karl praised staff at Liverpool Empire for their efforts to keep the audience informed of what was happening.
The ECHO has seen video of a wider outage further up London Road from the Empire Theatre, which sits at the bottom on the corner of Lime Street. The outage appeared to only affect one side of the street.
