Travel monitoring Inrix is reporting severe delays due to two lanes being closed from J20 M56 J9 ( Lymm Interchange) to J19 A556 ( Knutsford).
Traffic is backing up to J21 (Woolston). Travel time is one hour and twenty minutes above normal journey times, according to reports.

Queueing traffic on the northbound
There is also now queueing traffic on the northbound side as onlookers slow to look at the incident.
Lanes one and two (of three) are closed due to overturned lorry and recovery work on M6 Southbound from J20 M56 J9 ( Lymm Interchange) to J19 A556 ( Knutsford ).
Congestion to J21A (M62 Croft interchange).
Slow traffic on routes through Warrington and Mere as traffic finds an alternative route.

Road not expected to clear until 1pm
National Highways is reporting that the road may not clear until 1.30pm to 1.45pm.
There are currently delays of 40 minutes against expected traffic.

Lanes remain closed
Lanes one and two (of three) remain closed on the M6 southbound between J20 & J19 near Warrington due to a collision involving an overturned HGV.
Recovery is now underway at scene.
There are long delays of at least 45 minutes above usual journey times on the approach.

M6 updates
There are long delays due to earlier medical incident on M6 Thelwall Viaduct Northbound from J20 M56 J9 ( Lymm Interchange) to J21 A57 Manchester Road (Woolston).
Traffic is leading to J19 ( Knutsford ). All lanes have now been re-opened but travel time is around 45 minutes.

M6 Thelwall Viaduct also blocked
The M6 Thelwall Viaduct northbound is also blocked, with long delays due to medical emergency from J20 M56 J9 ( Lymm Interchange) to J21 A57 Manchester Road (Woolston).
There is also slow traffic on routes through Warrington and Warburton as traffic finds an alternative route from the lane closures.

"Approach with caution"
National Highways as warned that drivers should "approach with caution" due to M6 closures.
They confirmed that two lanes are closed between J20 and J19 southbound near Warrington, due to a crash involving an overturned HGV.
