Live updates as police close road due to unsafe building

A road has been closed in Bebington due to an unsafe building.

Police and firefighters are at The Village, between Townfield Lane and Heath Road, due to an unstable chimney stack. Two fire engines, along with a search and rescue team, have been at the scene since around 9.30am on Tuesday, June 20.

Approximately 100 metres of Village Road are cordoned off. A structural engineer has been requested and Merseyside Police are also in attendance to manage the outer cordon and road closures.

Statement from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service

A spokesperson said:

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at an incident on The Village, Bebbington, Wirral.

Crews were alerted at 09.16 and two fire engines along with the Search and Rescue team were on scene at 09.23.

On arrival crews were met with a three-storey property with several bricks having fallen into the road, on further inspection this was as a result of an unstable chimney stack.
