Teenage darts sensation Luke Littler will play in tonight's World Championship final, looking to be its youngest ever winner.

Luke, from Warrington, will face off against world number one Luke Humphries at Alexandra Palace tonight (January 3) after a fairy tale run to the final. The 16-year-old beat former world champion Rob Cross 6-2 in Tuesday's semi-final, claiming a comprehensive 6-2 victory.

The teenager is a graduate of the St Helens Darts Academy and has shot to stardom after a series of impressive performances. Fuelled by ham and cheese omelettes, pizzas and victory kebabs, Luke has knocked out Christian Kist, Andrew Gilding, Matt Campbell, his idol Raymond van Barneveld, Brendan Dolan and then Cross en route to the final.

Luke's nan has been given time off to watch the final

Luke Littler's nan has been given time off work so she can go to watch him in the World Darts Championship final.

Carol, 64, told the Telegraph earlier this week that she and husband Phil wanted to travel to London to watch Luke in the final. However this relied on her being able to take a day off from her job as a hygiene operative at Runcorn Town Hall.

Halton Borough Council has granted that request.
