A shooting has reportedly taken place near to a nursery.
Police were called to Delamore Street in Walton on Tuesday at around 2.30pm. A cordon and police officers are still at the scene this morning.
Residents in the area said forensic officers have also been in attendance. Near to the scene is a nursery and the road is a residential street.

Two men then fled towards the alleyway on the side of Delamore Street and the others made off towards Cairo Street, police said.

Detective Inspector Peter McCullough said:
Any shots fired in a residential area have the potential to cause devastation to anyone inside or nearby. Such reckless and violent behaviour will not be tolerated on our streets.
Our investigation is still the very early stages as we seek to establish what took place yesterday afternoon.
We are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry and speaking to people living in the local area. At this stage nobody has come forward to report they were injured.
I would ask anyone who was in the area of Delamore Street at around 2pm today who saw or heard anything suspicious or thinks they may have captured something significant on their dashcam or Ring doorbell to get in touch with us as a matter of urgency.

Man hears bangs and sees police putting tape on car
One man living in the area told the ECHO how he "heard the bangs" but thought nothing of it.
It was only when he looked out the window and he saw police tape over his car he realised it was something serious.

Shots fired after 'group of men fight'
Merseyside Police confirmed they received reports of shots being fired on Delamore Street in Walton.
Officers were contacted at 1.55pm on Tuesday after it was reported a group of men were seen fighting in the street. It was also reported one of the men had fired a gun.

Incident happened in broad daylight
People living in the area said they saw police arrive at around 2pm on Tuesday.
Police confirmed officers were contacted at 1.55pm.
