A road has been cordoned off in Bootle, with a large police presence on the street.

Wolfenden Avenue has been closed off by officers, with witnesses reporting around six matrix vans at the scene.

Someone living close to the scene reported hearing a "gunshot" but this has not been confirmed by police.

Armed officers were also spotted working at the scene.

Abby said: "I’ve been told by witnesses in Balliol Road the North West Ambulance Service and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene there. They added that it looked like three people were checked over."

Abby has been speaking to people who live close to the scene.

A woman who lives on Wolfenden Avenue said she was watching I’m a Celebrity when she heard what she described as a “loud bang” followed by a car “screeching away”.

We have had no confirmation from Merseyside Police on the nature of this incident and have asked for a statement
