Plans have been submitted for a new Greggs in Bootle that could stay open until 10pm.

The bakery group have applied for permission to change the use of a unit at Biz Parks on Dunnings Bridge Road so they can open the store.

According to documents submitted to Sefton Council on behalf of Greggs it could start trading from 5am and stay open as late as 10pm, while closing at 6pm on a Sunday. The shop would be located within an existing light industry and warehousing site and aims to provide a service to meet the needs in particular of people employed in the wider area, according to the applicant’s representative.

The shop would be 174 sq ft in size and include a seating area to allow customers to eat in as well as a counter for people to buy items to take away.

According to the application, the shop could create the equivalent of 10 full time jobs in the area and benefit the local economy.

The application adds that it would provide an “accessible, attractive and affordable bakery” for people in the area that would bring “significant community benefit” and complement existing options within the industrial estate.

The application is currently open for comments and can be viewed on the council’s online planning portal.
