Near the end of the video, a teenager can be heard saying "the police are going to come, she's called" before the clip cuts off. A Merseyside Police spokesperson said they are in the early stages of the investigation and appealed for people to come forward.

Commenter davey1 said: "The only one with any guts was the woman, scum are scum but why did no one go to her, she must have felt so alone. As for the cowardly rats, have they watched and listened to themselves is this really how they want to live their lives?
"98% of them wouldnt be involved without wearing a mask, in 2023 wearing a mask is a sign of cowardice to scared to be seen as the weak baby faced little boys they are, would that stupid girl laughed if the woman had pulled a terrified child out of the back of her car. Sorry this has really angered me, I couldn't have just stood there."
