I tried a £10 Boots foundation tint and my skin looked ‘airbrushed’

I've been a big fan of full coverage foundation for years, but recently I've really noticed the benefits of a thinner based foundation.

At the ripe old age of 27, it's safe to say that I've been noticing a few fine lines creep up on my face, particularly on the forehead and eye area. I used to be able to get away with wearing thick, full coverage foundation like the NARS Radiant Longwear Foundation, but now, I think it just looks cakey.

Even when I set my foundation with powder, as the hours pass my foundation will just sink into my fine lines and end up looking awful. As self conscious as I get about my blemishes, I just can't bare the look of cakey wrinkles on my face, so I knew it was time for a change.

I took a trip to my local Boots in a bit of a rush and came across an affordable £10 Foundation Tint from NYX. I've been super impressed with NYX products in the past, and was drawn to its promise of 'blurring' my face.

Online, the full product description reads: "Achieve an instantly smooth and blurred complexion with our first blurring tint foundation infused with skin-caring actives for healthy looking skin & 12h hydration! Introducing effortlessly "No Filter needed" makeup results with a flawless matte blurring finish."

Before applying the NYX Blur Tint Foundation

The foundation is said to have a 'skincare infused formula' formulated with Glycerine, Matcha and Niacinamide for 'visibly even' and 'radiant' skin. My skin has a tendency to look dull, especially in the morning, so these ingredients sounded really appealing to me.

I purchased the Blur Foundation and was actually pretty surprised at the results. If I'm being totally honest, I wasn't sure what to expect, but this foundation wound up being way better than I thought it would – especially considering its price.

I applied the Blur Foundation just with my hands and rubbed it in like a moisturiser. Although this felt alien to me because I'm usually used to dabbing it on with a sponge, the foundation itself actually felt quite nourishing.

This was something I definitely wasn't used to, because the products I usually apply are thick and quite heavy. After looking in the mirror, I noticed that my skin looked almost airbrushed.

After applying the NYX Blur Tint Foundation

Don't get me wrong, there was still texture on my skin (which I was glad about) but any redness, blemishes or evidence or pores completely dissapeared. The product soaked into my skin really well, and didn't smudge or soak into my fine lines.

I wore this foundation for around six or seven hours whilst visiting a theme park. Although after the seven hour mark there were a few signs of smudging around the nose area, it stayed put pretty well.

One thing I will say is this foundation definitely needs some blush or bronzer on top to avoid looking washed out. You need to ensure that you pick the right shade, because my shade is slightly too pale for me and it doesn't quite match my neck in certain lights.

As a whole though, for £10 I think this product is definitely worth it. A little goes a long way, and don't be fooled by the 'thin' consistency, because you don't need much for a good coverage at all.

Going forward, I'm definitely going to purchase this product again, especially for the summer time. Don't get me wrong, I'll always be a full coverage lover, but for every day wear – this NYX product is a winner for me.
