There's a hidden bar that offers a taste of New York right here in the city centre.

Bold Street in particular is a hotbed of activity, with a wide range of bars, restaurants and shops. Near the top of the street, there's one bar that's sure to impress.

L'Aperitivo is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it venue at the top of Bold Street, opposite Tesco Express. It's found behind a modern wooden door that almost looks as though it would lead into an apartment building instead of a swanky bar. There's floor to ceiling windows, with sheer curtains shielding the interior from the hustle and bustle of the busy street.
Inside, it's a cosy sanctuary. It almost looks split in half, managing to look both retro and modern at the same time. One half of the bar looks like it's straight out of the 70s, with wood-effect panelling hugging the walls, cosy globe pendants in ombre shades of brown and amber, plush booth seating, wooden tables, and tall indoor plants.
The space is divided by two long island bars, kitted out with white mushroom lamps – a style that became popular in the 70s – and red bar stools. On the other side, there's built-in booths that look to be carved into the wall, in a relaxing, natural pink tone. The tables are metal, adding a modern element to this delightfully vintage space.
According to the bar's website, an "aperitivo is a pre-meal drink specifically meant to whet your appetite", hence the bar's name. The menu features an extensive selection of drinks, as well as small plates and weekend brunch.
Drinks include favourites like Aperol spritz and a range of negronis, from toffee to amber and even chocolate, as well as original and classic cocktails, plus wines and much more. Small plates include meatballs, spiced chicken and gnocchi, salad, pasta of the day, meat or cheese board, paninis, and a variety of other Italian-inspired dishes.
The brunch menu is littered with favourites, from eggs benedict to smashed avocado on toast, and even steak and eggs. There's also the option of 'free flow' brunch to make it bottomless. It includes any brunch item with unlimited aperol spritz, elderflower spritz, prosecco or Peroni red for £35 per person, for a 90 minute session. This option is only available from 12pm until 4pm on Saturday and Sundays.
L'Aperitivo looks like it's been transported into the city centre from 70s New York. It's based at 112 Bold Street, Liverpool, L1 4HY. For more information, click here.
