First Dates star Merlin Griffiths has been supported by fans after posting to Twitter from a hospital bed.
The TV star, who is known for fixing up prospective romantics with a tipple before their big date on the Channel 4 show, was dressed in a hospital gown as he gave a positive update on his cancer battle. He first shared the news of his bowel cancer diagnosis in September 2021 and has undergone multiple surgeries since.
Alongside the selfie, Merlin wrote: "Gosh, it's very odd knowing all my insides are actually inside me again after 9 months of a #stoma. Next step, farting. Then food. #NHS #Cancer #Surgery."

In the comments, he explained his situation further as he added: "I have no rectum. Colon attached directly to rectal stump, but my surgeon seems to think it's workable. Won't ever be the same, but should theoretically settle into some kind of new routine."
Fans of the Channel 4 bar man rushed to support him. Fellow bowel cancer fighter, BBC's Adele Roberts, said: "Fabulous to hear you’re on the mend Merlin!"
Caroline said: "Wow sorry to hear you’ve had to go through this . Hopefully you will feel better and adjust to the next step soon . Take care x". Mark said: "Get well soon. Liking your priorities of farting over food!"
Merlin revealed his diagnosis in an interview with Sunday Mirror over a year ago as he explained that he was facing a year of treatment. The father-of-one was told by doctors he has a 75% chance of living beyond five years.
