A fundraiser has been set up in memory of a mum who was "beautiful inside and out" so her family can give her "a send off fit for the queen she is".

Kimberlie Donoghue, a mum in her 30s, was found dead inside a house on Roughwood Drive, Kirkby at around 5.20pm on Sunday, January 21. Merseyside Police, who attended the scene and cordoned of a number of houses, arrested a 23-year-old man, from Kirkby, on suspicion of murder.

The man has since been released under investigation and the woman's death is currently being treated as unexplained. Following Kimberlie's death, her friends and family described her as the "most caring girl" in a series of social media tributes. And now a GoFundMe page has been set up by her loved ones to raise money for her "send off".

The fundraiser, which had raised over £1,700 at the time of writing, said: "As everyone is aware, Kimberlie grew her wings on Sunday, January 21, to which we are all still in shock. I've been asked on behalf of the family to set up a GoFundMe to help take the pressure off the family as they're going through enough already.

"She is terribly missed by all and would help anybody in any sort of situation so let's all do the same and give her a send off fit for the queen that she is. You were so adored Kim by everyone who managed to be a part of your life, no matter how big or small."

Following Kimberlie's death, one friend said in a post on Facebook: "I can't believe what has happened in the last 24 hours, it's absolutely heartbreaking. We had some great times growing up. Absolutely awful. Kimberlie Donoghue, thinking of all the family."

Another wrote: "Can’t believe what’s happened. You were the purest, most caring girl I’ve ever known. You were always there for others before yourself and as a mum you were one of a kind. Rest in peace angel and you will never leave anyone’s mind who had the pleasure of knowing you as a person."

A third wrote: "How can this world be so cruel? You were one of a kind Kimberlie Donoghue. The one who got me up when I was down, the one to make any silent room loud. You were an amazing friend to everyone and I’ll never forget you. I love you so much."

Merseyside Police Chief Inspector Colin Dyer said: "We are carrying out a number of lines on enquiry as we seek to establish what has taken place. Witness enquiries are being carried out in the local area and we are examining local CCTV and Ring doorbell footage to build a picture of what has happened.

"We would ask anyone who was in the area of Roughwood Drive this afternoon who saw or heard anything to contact us as a matter of urgency. Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or call 101 quoting log 620 of 21st January."
