A scheme from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) that means people could be entitled to additional cash boosts of £25 is now underway.
People can receive payments of £25 across seven-day periods until March 31, 2024. To be eligible for a payment the average temperature in your area must be recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees Celsius or below for seven consecutive days.
If you are also in receipt of benefits such as Pension Credit, Income Support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Universal Credit and/or Support for Mortgage Interest, you may then get a £25 Cold Weather Payment.

The Cold Weather Payment scheme runs between November 1 and March 31, and while it is in operation you can use the Government postcode checker, to see if a payment is due in your area.
The money is given to people on certain benefits and some eligible people will receive the money automatically. There are, however, some instances where they will have to contact the Pension Service or Jobcentre Plus to secure the cash.
