Dealer caught outside Iceland selling heroin and cocaine

A heroin and crack cocaine dealer was caught selling drugs outside an Iceland supermarket.

Liverpool Crown Court heard today, Monday, that officers spotted two men engaged in a drug transactions outside the Southport branch on March 24 last year. Joanne Moore, prosecuting, described how Luke Hutchinson was then seen on his "burner" mobile phone "pacing up and down".

When stopped and searched, PCs discovered a "significant amount of drugs" in his possession. The 29-year-old, of Manchester Road, was carrying a total of 10 street deals of cocaine and 21 of heroin as well as £785 in cash.

Michael O'Brien, defending, told the court: "His addiction to both heroin and cocaine saw him turn to these offences. He tells me he was indebted to his dealers.

"This caused him to supply class A drugs. He accepts there is some financial gain."

Hutchinson admitted possession of heroin and cocaine with intent to supply. Appearing via video link to HMP Altcourse, he was jailed for 31 months.

Sentencing, Judge Anil Murray said: "You accept you were dealing drugs for significant financial profit, and that seems clear. You have the kind of record one often sees for drug users, but you have not got previous convictions for drug trafficking."

Forfeiture of the cash and drugs was also ordered.
