A woman told her husband "we've got to have this" when viewing her ideal house.
Childhood sweethearts Dawn and Steve Quinn moved into their house on Egremont Promenade in Wallasey in January 2022 after they sold each of their homes. The pair put the money together with the idea being they would use it to buy a house together in Wales on the beach.
Yet, after a long and unsuccessful search they widened their search area, eventually finding a home from 1806 on the Wirral, overlooking the Mersey and Liverpool.

Dawn went to view the house alone as Steve, who works as a project manager, was away in Italy with work. Dawn said there was "so much work" that needed to be done on the building, but when she viewed it solo she phoned Steve and told him "we've got to have this house."
Dawn spoke to the ECHO for our Where I Live series, where we explore one home from across the region each week, discovering what makes their home so much more than the four walls they live in.
Dawn told the ECHO: "It's literally a beach house. I found this house while Steve was working in Italy. I said to him we've got to have this house.
"I didn't think it was that expensive, but it needed a lot of work doing on it. The hallway had an Egyptian scene [painted on the walls] so I changed that.
"A lot of the stuff we've got in an antique style. We want to try to take the house back to how it would have looked in the past but with a more modern touch."
"We've got Edwardian chairs and a four post bed. It's nowhere near finished. There's a lot more work to be done.
Dawn has also set up an Airbnb adjacent to the house, after a realisation there was nowhere for friends to stay nearby. She said: "We set it up in December. We'd had a party for our 50th but we had a lot of family and friends with nowhere to stay.
"Somebody actually suggested to us why don't we set something up.
"At the start, we didn't have any clue, but our confidence grew as we continued getting bookings and the reviews were positive.
"Now we're booked up constantly. It's going really well. It's going so well we'd like to do a second Airbnb."
With the age of the home has come its intriguing qualities, one of those being a series of bricked up doorways believed to lead to tunnels in the cellar of the house, as well as the call bars in the cellar.
Another is the fact the house may be haunted. She added: "My house is haunted but not in the Airbnb because that's an extension.
"It's in our cellar, we catch them mimicking our names and the dogs growl at the cellar and won't go down.
"It doesn't happen that often. The last time it happened I was in the kitchen, I heard my husband shout Dee and I turned and he wasn't there he was in the garden.
"Things go missing and come back when we asked for it. It's a really fun house to live in."
