Chinese zodiac 2024: Year of the Dragon’s three luckiest animals

Feb 3, 2024

This Chinese New Year, on February 10 2024, we’ll be entering the Year of the Dragon.

According to an ancient myth, the order of zodiac signs was determined by the order in which 12 animals finished a great race across a river. In the race, the Dragon finished fifth despite the ability to fly.

The Jade Emperor was surprised and asked the Dragon why it didn't finish first. The Dragon explained that it had stopped to bring rain to a village. Later, it helped the Rabbit cross the river by puffing breath onto the log the Rabbit was holding onto.

The Jade Emperor was impressed with the Dragon's kindness and named it the fifth animal in the zodiac. People born in the year of the Dragon are known for their admirable traits, such as decisiveness, sensitivity, and ambition.

According to the Chinese zodiac, three signs will receive good luck. They are the Dragon, Rat and Monkey.

Here’s what they can expect in terms of luck, according to astrologer Inbaal Honigman who spoke to the Express.

Dragon (people born in 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, 2024)

Dragon-born individuals will have a wonderful year in 2024 since everything and everyone is aligned to their sign. Their big personality and leadership qualities will not seem out of the ordinary.

Their softer qualities of wisdom and benevolence will be appreciated and not taken advantage of. This is a good year for Dragons to climb the ladder and apply for bigger and bolder positions.

Rat (people born in 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020)

Rat-born folk are hardworking and quick-witted. Their gentle nature can put them at a disadvantage, but the Dragon year in 2024 will bring luck to their door.

They don't believe in shortcuts and in doing things the easy way, and this year will put them in the right place at the right time so that they make friends with people in positions of power and influence.

Monkey (people born in 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016)

Monkey-born people are cheeky. Smart, playful and attractive, their natural playfulness fits well with the powerful energy of the Dragon year.

Their loud laughter will be welcomed by all. A monkey's dream is to be able to turn their hobby into a career, and this year could bring the perfect opportunity.
