Body of a man found near ‘the Ralla’

The body of a man has been found in Liverpool.

Merseyside police and paramedics were called to reports a body was found under a bridge near Liverpool Loop Line, known locally as The Ralla. At the scene, off Thomas Lane, Broadgreen, police found the man who was pronounced dead on Wednesday, January 3.

Currently, officers do not believe the man's death to be suspicious and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. A police scene was in place while investigations were carried out in the area.

A spokesperson for the force said: "We can confirm that emergency services are on Thomas Lane in Liverpool this afternoon (Wednesday 3 January) following reports that the body of a man had been found. At around 8.50am we received a report that the body of a man had been found under a bridge on Thomas Lane at the end of the M62.

"Emergency services located the body of the man who was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. A post-mortem examination will take place to establish the cause of his death. His next of kin have been informed and officers are supporting his family at this difficult time.

"At present the man's death is not believed to be suspicious and officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident. A police scene is currently in place in the area whilst officers continue their investigations."
